Flash Fiction Friday For December 9, 2011

Flash Fiction Friday
Welcome to this week’s Flash Fiction Friday. A picture may be worth a thousand words but not for us. We have a picture about which we write a story of 100 words, no more and no less. I am joined by some fabulous writers today who give their take on a picture. To see the picture and the other members click this blog link: Flasher Fiction Friday

This was it – it was Jenna’s big day. First the photo shoot and then the big runway show. I’d never seen her look so frightened, my confident and brave sister seemed to have vanished in the myriad of ruffles and frills. Then in a blink the insecure little girl I had seen was gone, as the stylist fussed with the gown one more time and the photographer circled her Jenna transformed into the haughty and arrogant beauty the cameras could not get enough of. She was born for the spotlight and I was born for the shadows . . .

How sad for the sister. She shouldn't have to stay in the shadows. Great post

Aw, the sister just needs to find her own niche and glow from within! I liked this, Venus. I was able to relate. :)

Some are born for the cameras and others are born for the shadows. Sometimes the shadows is a not a bad place to be. It’s a great way to sit back and observe. Nice post.

I think the sister has her own talents. This isn't her world, it's nice of her to be here to support her family- but I think she's at home somewhere else, where others look at her in awe... a physic lab? A neurosurgery? The classroom?

Two sisters, so very different, but so much alike. In their own way, they both need attention and want to be loved. Venus, I like the emotions this post invoked in me, it triggered a flashback. Very good, very good indeed.

Great tease...having 3 sisters of my own, I would love to know more about these two.

Sisterly love is strong as is the support, but there is always a little envy and competition.

Really well done.
