I'm so excited to be introducing a new feature, where I will introduce
some of my most favourite artists. Authors are my Rockstars and I go quite
fangrrl!
I've been
lucky enough to meet Kathy Lyons and let me tell you this is one fun-loving
lady. Her wonderful personality will keep you smiling and so will her stories.
So let's
get to know this fabulous lady a little better . . .
Who is the first person you
call when you have a bad day?
Cindy Dees. We’ve known each
other since we were in college and strangely both became romance writers. She
started writing after an exciting career in the Air Force as a pilot and spy
(yes, she was) and me after a not so exciting stint as a technical writer. My
bad days are usually related to writing. My husband sympathizes (and has
learned to throw chocolate) but it’s only a fellow writer who understands the
misery of words that won’t come out right. Or at all. Better yet, she usually
can help me with the problem. She can plot anything. And I can create
characters that will logically do what any plots demand. So we help each other.
Plus she’s awesome.
What cheers me up?
Good fantasy. Er...well, those
kind of fantasies are awesome too, but I love a good adventure story with
magic. Young boy/girl discovers s/he has a special power and has to learn how
to control it to save the world? (Try Cindy Dees’The Sleeping King)
AWESOME! An adult who is losing hope and discovers a world of magic? AMAZING!
An old man/woman who finds something to bring hope back into the world? YES,
YES, YES! And by the way, what’s the best magic of all? Love. Yup. It’s
why I write romance. But I have a special fondness for paranormal romance. My
November book is about a woman who is at the end of her rope who walks through
a closet door (yes, I loved the Narnia books) and discovers a whole new world
of magic and fun! Check out Seducing
the Skeptic by Kathy Lyons.
Have you ever danced in the rain?
Yes, I have. No wait, maybe I
didn’t. Huh. I don’t think I have. Well, what is wrong with me? I suppose
as a child, I knew better than to come home soaked. Mom would have killed me.
As college and graduate student I was always lugging around stuff that couldn’t
get wet. And as a mother, I didn’t want to wash the clothes and deal with
children who got into enough messes without my help. But now my kids are grown
and if I want to run around in the rain, then I should, right? Yes! Next
rain, I’m getting out there and doing some fancy moves. Just you wait. My
husband will think I’ve gone nuts, but that’s just too bad.
What was the last picture you took on your phone?
Um...well, it was a silly
picture. I was thrilled that my leggings still fit after a year of eating a
lot. As in I went to Italy and ate my weight in pasta. But they still
fit! (Thank God for stretchy fibers) So here’s the picture.
