Flash Fiction Friday

Flash Fiction Friday
Welcome to this week’s Flash Fiction Friday. A picture may be worth a thousand words but not for us. We have a picture about which we write a story of 100 words, no more and no less. I am joined by some fabulous writers today who give their take on a picture. To see the picture and the other members click this blog link: Flasher Fiction Friday

Reflected in the mirror the hairdresser gave me an encouraging smile yet I still felt the tears well up. “It’s just hair, it will grow back” ran over and over in my mind. It played out in slow motion before my very eyes. The harsh florescent light caught the shiny metal of the scissors and seemed to mesmerize me. I blinked and it was over. The glorious waves were now clutched in the hand of the still smiling stylist.

My eyes cut to my daughter’s in the mirror, “Mom do you think it’s long enough to make you a wig?”

That one made me sad. Does the mom have cancer? That's what it made me think anyway. Very powerful flash. Well done.

Interesting, I had the same thought as Bonni, Mom has cancer. Yes, a very touching and moving post. It made me ponder just how fragile and precious life is.

Wow, powerful. Now, I wonder if the daughter did some type of locks of love to make her mother a wig. Very loving post. Great FFF

Oh snapple! Why is she cutting her hair? Why does she need a wig? OMG. you must continue this one. I have to know.

Beautiful FFF. I cut and donated my hair to Locks of Love when I was a teenager in memory of my little cousin who died of cancer. I also donated it last year in honor of my friends who are going through treatment and included the experience in one of my stories. It's amazing how personal and intimate hair can be. Thank you for a touching post, now let me find those tissues!
