He drew in a deep calming breath and let the early morning fog shroud him in succour and obscurity. No one was about yet at this his favourite time of the day. He enjoyed it even more than the dead of night when he did his best work. Here and now, in the initial hours of the morning there was no need to pretend, no need to hide his true self. He could embrace the feelings and physical traits he worked so hard at concealing and take solace in the anonymity the thick blanket of fog provided. He could glance longingly at the statue of the avenging angel and feel the unmistakable connection click into place. He could close his eyes and relive the rush of adrenaline that took over as he unleashed his mighty sword and called the sinners for their judgement. He had justice and righteousness on his side yet he still had to keep to the shadows and show the world a carefree façade. Hide amongst the mortals and deny who and what he was. One day soon the time would come when he could reveal his true nature and take his place with his fellow archangels.

It must be extremely painful for him to be forced to hide among us hopelessly flawed mortals. A few days hanging around with some us and I bet he's itching to pick up his sword and smite somebody, anybody. Excellent Venus - well done.

What a different piece. There is something so very poignant about the way you've used the words in conjunction with the gritty yet oh so beautiful picture. I loved this one.
