As everyone filed out, Drew didn’t move. I wasn’t sure what to say to him, after all his hand was almost down my panties during the meeting. “Sorry you got roped into this project.”

“No problem. I’m looking forward to working on it.”

He still hadn’t looked at me.

“Well, about dinner tonight . . .” Before I could say anything more he jumped in. “Actually I’m not sure that’s such a good idea with us working together. I didn’t mean to lead you on.”

It was my turn to cut him off. “Oh it’s definitely not a good idea! What I was trying to tell you is I don’t think my boyfriend would like it.” I flashed him a smile, gathered up my papers and quickly exited.

I shut the door and laughed hysterically. My boyfriend that was funny. And would he be the teddy bear I slept with?

What had gotten in to me? I couldn’t believe I’d let Drew feel me up under the boardroom table, then I’d yelled at my boss in front of the President and CEO of the company. And now here I was making up non-existent boyfriends.

Could the day get any crazier?

Tantalizing Tuesday Teaser

Welcome to this week's Tantalizing Tuesday where we pick any picture that captures our fancy and write no more and no less than 200 words!

How did I get myself mixed up in this?

I’d been wandering the grounds and I’d stumbled across a body sprawled between the neat rows of grapes. Now instead of spending my day ensconced in the gazebo staring out over the escarpment and plotting erotic rendezvous for my romantic leads I was answering questions from a surly detective and his gorgeous partner. Both had me beyond tongue-tied but for different reasons.

Detective Constable Ralph Wesley reminded me of every authority figure I’d come across and he immediately intimidated me. I felt myself stammering and fighting the urge to burst into tears. He had a gruff manner, which was not easing my anxiety, and I thought I was going to pass out. I stumbled over my reason for my vacation feeling my face getting hotter and hotter as I explained what type of author I was. I could smut it up with the best of them but I always felt like a guilty Catholic schoolgirl whenever I had to vocalize my genre choice.

Detective Sergeant Mauro Angellotti was the handsomest man I’d ever seen and the fact he was treating me like a skittish animal had my heart beating double time.

Honeymoon for One

I would never have thought I could enjoy this magical place, not with the circumstances that brought me here. Yet the waters washed my soul clean and the tropical breezes carried my worries away. Each sunset soothed my senses and each daybreak delivered new possibilities in abundance.

What had started out as the most miserable day of my life had quickly turned into a giant blessing. Here in paradise I had found myself. A self I had never met before, someone I kept closeted away, afraid to let her live the life she wanted. Afraid to grant her happiness. I found a new job and perhaps a new love. But this time I was going to make sure I was making the right decision. I would not settle for anything less than what I deemed worthy. Ben might have left me at the alter but this honeymoon for one had turned into the trip of a lifetime and if that sucker thought I was paying him back one red cent for it he was delusional.

I ordered another girly concoction and savoured the cool fruity taste as I gazed out at I view that had once only been my screensaver.

He had never longed for his hearing back before, not even as a child. He had accepted his fate and adjusted his life accordingly but as he watched the sadness in her face, he wished he could hear her sultry tones. She seemed truly devastated to learn he could not share what she thought was her best asset. He would convince her she was more than a voice on the airwaves.

She had a stunning body; her delicious curves made him instantly hard. Her personality was golden. She always had a smile on her face and as he watched her work the crowd he witnessed as she made everyone comfortable, going out of her way to ensure no one was left out. She had so many acquaintances who truly loved her exuberant nature and genuine heart. He didn't know how to convince her she was more than a vocal wet dream. He didn't doubt she had a sensual tone because to him she oozed sex appeal. He was determined to convince her not only was she worthy of his attention and love but that she was going to have both forever.

He knew exactly what his first step would be.

Welcome to this week's Tantalizing Tuesday where we pick any picture that captures our fancy and write no more and no less than 200 words!

I looked across the rugged moor to the still imposing stone structure. I couldn’t explain how, but it called to me on a primal level. I felt a deep connection as if I were coming home. I knew I belonged here. The clean crisp air settled in my lungs and I felt the urge to get nearer. I never thought I’d get to visit Scotland yet here I was. But I was nowhere near close enough to the intriguing ruin. I felt a compulsion to get ever closer. I had to get closer. Stepping away from the other tourists I started to slowly walk across the uneven ground and barely noticed the furrows. The low scrubby vegetation scratched at my feet through my inappropriate sandals but I barely felt the abrasions. I wasn’t really sure how long it took me to cross the damp soil but soon I was standing alongside the pebbled shore staring longingly across the still waters.

And that was when I saw him, beckoning me to his side. He was huge and I couldn’t be certain if he were ghost or reality. All I knew was his heart called mine and I was prepared to answer.

Tantalizing Tuesday Teaser

Welcome to this week's Tantalizing Tuesday where we pick any picture that captures our fancy and write no more and no less than 200 words!

I knew there would be a stripper so I made up an excuse for arriving late in order to miss that debacle. I was appalled at how women behaved around male dancers; they did things that if the roles were reversed charges would be laid.

When I walked into the hall I was surprised to find the groom’s grandmother up shaking it on stage with a man dressed in only a pair of briefs. I was more than surprised when he turned around and I recognized him. Eric had changed since high school but I would recognize those silver eyes anywhere. Gone were the thick glasses, baggy jeans and over-size shirts and he’d let his cropped military fashion haircut grow out. Eric had been the sweetest and the smartest boy I’d known. For years our lockers had been side-by-side so we got to know each and I’d developed a bit of a crush on him. Last I had heard he’d designed some computer program and was a millionaire or something.

When I’d recognized him I must have said his name out loud because he stood facing me and everyone in the large room watched to see what was going on.

Just when I think life is on track something small and seemingly insignificant will pull me back into the quagmire. This morning while getting ready for work the light reflected on my pale skin as I stood at the sink in only my bra brushing my teeth.  As part of my regular routine I never gave a thought to the disfigurement running down the middle of my torso from beneath the black silk to below where the countertop starts. It wasn’t the highly visible mark that stopped me cold, it was the tiny starburst in the centre of my hand as it caught the light and pulled me into the darkness. With years behind me I’d hoped to finally put this in my past and carry on but fear instantly clutched my belly and I was transported back, inundated by memories of when my life and near death had been an absolute nightmare. I wanted to drop my toothbrush burst into tears and crawl back under my bed covers. Instead I stood, eyes transfixed on that millimetre of scarred skin. It felt like hours but I made it. I gave myself a quick wink and I continued brushing my teeth.
